The first manga animated by Studio Ghibli

Something really old, combined with something really modern, brewed together by one of the most creative companies of today.

If you have ever heard of the Choju-jinbutsu-giga, you know that it’s a series of Japanese caricature animal drawings dating back to the 12th century. It is also considered the oldest “manga” ever published, and not to forget a important part of the Japanese cultural heritage.

Where does Ghibli comes in the picture you ask? The creator of some of the most memorable animes ever (Spirited Away, Howls Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke to name a few) has decided to animate the historic manga and create a unique short movie as a part of an advertisement. Oh, and it was a pretty big deal in Japan, so enjoy:)
